Ashley Melton - Assistant Instructor at Kansas Ji Do KwanAshley Melton, assistant instructor, has trained in the martial arts for over 9 years. She is currently a 1st Degree Black belt in karate, 1st stripe yellow belt in Jiu Jitsu and a yellow belt in Judo. Ashley has participated in numerous tournaments and won many 1st and 2nd place trophies. In 2005 she placed 1st in the Kansas nationals. Before the Meltons relocated to Kansas her family trained in Ohio under Ohio Ji Do Kwan. Ashley feels it is very important for young girls today to train and understand the discipline and art of martial arts and all it has to offer. Ashley has grown intellectually and spiritually since she began her training. She has also improved her self confidence, holds a higher regard and respect for her peers and elders and learned many leadership qualities. As an assistant instructor, part of Ashley's responsibility is to acquire enough hours of instructing before she can obtain her black belt. She currently runs the Mighty Might’s program which is geared towards children aged 4-7.

Justin Donnelly - Assistant Instructor at Kansas Ji Do KwanJustin Donnelly, assistant instructor, has trained in the martial arts for over 10 years. He currently holds a 2nd kyu brown belt in karate, 4th stripe white belt in Jiu Jitsu and is currently pursuing a rank in Judo. Justin fought in his first Mixed Martial Arts fight on Saturday March 3, 2007. Although he lost in the second round he was valiant in his effort. Justin began his training in the Ohio Ji Do Kwan system and recently relocated to Kansas where he continues to pursue his black belt in the art of Ji Do Kwan Kung Su Do. He also trains under his brother in the art of Jiu Jitsu and Judo. Martial arts has helped boost his self esteem and outlook on life. He believes it is a great feeling to be considered a positive role model or even a hero to a young child. He also believes that dedication, sacrifice and hard work all prove to be worth the effort in the world of martial arts. You too can become a positive impact in society.

Matt Meads - Assistant Instructor at Kansas Ji Do Kwan

Matt Meads, assistant instructor, currently holds a 1st Degree Black belt in karate, 1st stripe Green belt in Jiu Jitsu and a yellow belt in Judo at Kansas Ji Do Kwan. His first experience with martial arts occurred 10 years ago when he took Tae-Kwon-do. Matt trained under Mr. Ali for a couple months and made it to a white belt with a yellow stripe before his 5 year old attention span gave out. He then tried Tae-Kwon-do and karate schools from time to time. When Matt turned 12 he went to Ko’s Tae-Kwon-do. He actually liked it and strived for his next belt. Finally his next door neighbor came to him asking if he wanted to try his karate school. Matt decided he would go but it would probably be no different from Ko’s. So he went and met Sensei Melton and tried out the class. It was a smaller classs and it looked promising. He went another time and when he started getting better Sensei kept reassuring how good he was and told him how Matt could do even better. Matt was finally being recognized! Sensei's support never dropped which drove Matt to succeed and get where he is today. He has been training here for 2 ½ years and loves every minute of it and Sensei’s support still drives him toward his black belt!
